Biography

Angharad Rees, a gifted and versatile personage, emerged into the world in London, a city renowned for its cultural and historical significance. The child of a Welsh psychiatrist father, Linford Rees, who had dedicated his life to understanding the intricacies of the human mind, and a mother, Catherine Thomas, whose own life experiences had undoubtedly shaped her perspective on the world.

Rees's academic journey was a rich tapestry of experiences, woven from diverse and international threads. Her educational odyssey took her to the esteemed Sorbonne in the City of Light, Paris, where she immersed herself in the rich cultural heritage of the French capital. This was followed by a stint at the renowned Rose Bruford Drama College in Kent, England, where she honed her craft and developed her passion for the performing arts.

But Rees's thirst for knowledge and experience was not satisfied by these European institutions alone. She also ventured to the University of Madrid, where she further broadened her intellectual horizons and gained a deeper understanding of the complexities of the Spanish language and culture.

In addition to her formal education, Rees also spent time teaching English in Spain, a experience that not only allowed her to share her knowledge with others but also provided her with a unique perspective on the country and its people. This experience ultimately prepared her for a career in acting, where she could bring her diverse range of skills and experiences to the stage and screen.

In the 1970s, Rees garnered widespread recognition and acclaim for her iconic portrayal of the captivating and strong-willed Demelza in the esteemed BBC TV costume drama "Poldark", a production that captivated audiences and left a lasting impression on the world of television.

Her television career was marked by a plethora of memorable and diverse British roles, showcasing her remarkable range and versatility as a thespian.

On the eighteenth day of September, 1973, Rees entered into the institution of marriage with the renowned actor, Christopher Cazenove, with whom she would go on to share the joys of parenthood, welcoming two sons, Linford James and Rhys William, into the world.

Tragedy would strike this seemingly idyllic family in the years to come, as their eldest son, Linford James, met an untimely demise in a devastating car accident on the M11 motorway in Essex, en route to collect books from the prestigious Cambridge University, where he had been honored with a Master of Philosophy degree.

The couple would eventually divorce in the year 1994, yet their bond would endure, as they remained close until Cazenove's passing from septicaemia on an unknown date in 2010.

Rees, in a subsequent union, tied the knot with David McAlpine, a prominent figure within the renowned McAlpine construction company, in a picturesque ceremony held at The Royal Hospital Chelsea, a prestigious institution located in the heart of London. This marriage, which would ultimately endure until her untimely demise, marked a significant chapter in Rees's personal life.

Biography of David McAlpine:

David McAlpine is a British businessman and member of the McAlpine construction company, a family-run enterprise with a long history of delivering high-quality construction projects. Born into a family with deep roots in the industry, McAlpine was destined to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in shaping the company's growth and success, earning a reputation as a shrewd and astute businessman.

Not only did Rees make a name for herself in the acting world, but she also pursued a highly successful career as a jewellery designer, which culminated in the establishment of her own company, Angharad, situated in the upscale area of Knightsbridge, London, England.
