Ansel Elgort is a renowned American actor, widely recognized for his captivating performances in various film genres. He has played iconic roles such as Augustus Waters in the heart-wrenching romance, The Fault in Our Stars (2014),and the titular character in the adrenaline-fueled action thriller, Baby Driver (2017).
Born in the vibrant city of New York, Elgort is the son of a photographer, Arthur Elgort, and an opera director, Grethe Holby. His father's Russian-Jewish heritage and mother's Norwegian and British Isles ancestry have undoubtedly influenced his artistic pursuits.
As a child, Ansel Elgort explored his creative side by auditioning for the School of American Ballet and attending prestigious summer camps, including Stagedoor Manor and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. He began his professional acting career on stage, starring in Matt Charman's off-Broadway play, "Regrets."
Elgort made his film debut in the 2013 horror remake, Carrie, and went on to co-star with Shailene Woodley in the science-fiction epic, Divergent (2014),and the romantic drama, The Fault in Our Stars (2014). He also appeared in Jason Reitman's drama film, Men, Women & Children (2014),and reprised his role in the sequels, Insurgent (2015) and Allegiant (2016).
Elgort's versatility as an actor is evident in his cameo appearance in Paper Towns (2015),based on the bestselling novel by John Green.
