Aylam Orian is a multilingual European-American actor with a diverse range of film and television credits to his name. Born in the United States to Israeli parents of German, Polish, Russian, and Romanian descent, Aylam was an artistic child who developed a passion for painting, photography, and playing the guitar.
After serving in the military as an officer, Aylam worked at a local cinematheque and was introduced to the great masters of cinema, which inspired him to enroll in Tel Aviv University's film school. During his time at the university, he made a short film, "A Nightmare on Bialik Street," which won several awards and was later shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
Aylam then went on to study acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and The Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York. While a student at the Strasberg Institute, he was hired by Anna Strasberg to organize and preserve Lee Strasberg's extensive collections of materials on acting, a position he held for nine years before starting to teach.
As an actor, Aylam made his US television debut in the A&E mini-series "Between the Lines," hosted by Robert Downey Jr. He then went on to appear in a range of television shows, including "America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back," "30 Rock," "Code Black," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Shooter," "The Guest Book," "AJ and the Queen," and "Ford v Ferrari."
Aylam also had a series regular role as Nazi villain Wilhelm Brücke in the latest installment of the "Stargate" franchise, "Stargate Origins." He has also appeared in several independent films, including "Joy Incorporated" and "The Cold Winter," and has worked extensively in voice-over, ADR, and looping.
In addition to his work in film and television, Aylam has also returned to the theatre, originating the role of Hermann Van Pels in the US premiere of the play "Anne," a retelling of the Anne Frank story. Due to his multiple language skills, Aylam has also branched out to the international arena, appearing in films such as "The Informer" and "We Were the Lucky Ones."
