BJ was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where her early artistic inclinations were nurtured through her involvement in music and painting. Her journey in the film industry began when she was approached by a casting director after relocating to Vancouver, Canada, with her husband and children. To further hone her craft, BJ enrolled in a two-year intensive program at Gastown Actors Studio in Vancouver, concurrently booking work and dedicating herself to continuous learning through study, classes, and workshops.
Throughout her illustrious career, BJ has accumulated over 100 film and television credits. Her most recent and notable work includes the Netflix limited series Maid (2021),which garnered multiple Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Award nominations, and was named one of the AFI Awards' 'Top Programs' of the year. BJ's impressive repertoire also includes Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017) and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018),Showtime's award-winning series Yellowjackets (2021),blockbuster films like Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Tooth Fairy (2010),starring Dwayne Johnson, as well as numerous Hallmark Channel films.
In early 2021, BJ was honored by UBCP/ACTRA as one of the 'industry pioneers', and was also featured in ACTRA Magazine's Spring 2021 issue, sharing her insights on what it means to be a woman of a certain age in the industry. When not in front of the camera, BJ cherishes spending time with her family and indulges in her passion for painting, allowing her to express herself creatively.
