Bashar Barakah Jackson, professionally known as Pop Smoke, was an American rapper whose professional career spanned from late 2018 until his untimely passing on February 19, 2020. Considered by many to be the iconic face of Brooklyn drill, Pop Smoke was born and raised in Canarsie, Brooklyn, where he developed a passion for music. His musical journey began in late 2018 with the release of his debut single "MPR (Panic Part 3 Remix)", marking the start of his rise to fame. The release of his breakout singles "Welcome to the Party" and "Dior" in 2019 catapulted Pop Smoke to stardom, and he went on to collaborate with numerous UK drill artists and producers, who were known for their unique style of incorporating more minimal and aggressive instrumentation compared to their Chicago counterparts.
