Actor and writer Bashir Gavriel had a clear sense of direction, yet he understood the financial realities of the entertainment industry and chose a more practical route initially. He put his plans to move to Los Angeles on hold and instead attended nursing school, earning his credentials as a cardio-thoracic registered nurse.
After establishing himself in his medical career, Bashir made the move to Hollywood, where he built an impressive acting resume with over 30 credits across nine networks. As an alumnus of Second City, he discovered his passion for writing through sketch comedy, which eventually led to a successful career behind the camera.
In 2025, Bashir joined the CBS series Watson as a producer for its second season, created and showrun by Craig Sweeny and executive produced by Aaron Kaplan. This followed his work as a writer-producer on Hulu's Murdaugh Murders, a true-crime drama created by Michael Fuller and executive produced by Nick Antosca and Patricia Arquette, from 2024 to 2025.
In 2023, Bashir served as a co-producer on the Amazon Bosch spin-off and was previously the executive story editor on Peacock's Dr. Death, produced by Patrick Macmanus. He also wrote for Hulu's The Girl from Plainville, working alongside Liz Hannah and Patrick Macmanus.
Additionally, Bashir wrote and produced two episodes of CBS's Good Sam, with Jennie Urman serving as executive producer. He co-wrote and produced the second episode of Power: Raising Kanan for Starz, working alongside Sascha Penn. His development work includes projects with CBS and a pilot script sold to USA Network/UCP.
Beyond his achievements in writing, acting, and production, Bashir brings a unique perspective as a former cardio-thoracic nurse and proudly celebrates his Jamaican heritage.
