Benjamin Stephens, Jr. was born in Washington, D.C., the nation's capital, and spent his early years in Forestville, Maryland, located in Prince George's County, just outside of D.C. He is the eldest of two children born to his parents, Beryl and Benjamin Stephens, Sr.
Following his graduation from Archbishop Carroll High School, Ben secured a basketball scholarship to attend Shepherd University. Growing up, his ambition was to play in the National Basketball Association. After completing his college education, Ben played for several touring teams overseas, including one assembled by renowned sports agent David Falk. He even had the opportunity to play in a summer professional-amateur basketball league at the iconic Long Beach Pyramid in Los Angeles. However, it was during his appearance in a local commercial that Ben developed a passion for acting.
Ben's acting career began with guest roles on various television shows, including Moesha in 2000, The Parkers in 2000, and Frasier in 2001. His breakthrough performance came when he played the role of Curtis Duncan in the popular BET/Netflix crime drama series The Family Business, which premiered in 2020 and is still ongoing. Ben has since starred in the highly anticipated spin-off series The Family Business: New Orleans, alongside Brandon T. Jackson and Lela Rochan. Additionally, he is part of the production team for The Family Business franchise and The Black Hamptons.
