Bob, a talented individual, is the proud offspring of Barry Cryer, a renowned writer and comedian, and Terry Donovan, a gifted singer. Born with a creative spark, Bob pursued his passion for the arts by studying English and Theatre at the esteemed University of Warwick.
Further honing his craft, Bob underwent rigorous training as an actor at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). His writing skills have been put to the test, and he has collaborated with his father, Barry Cryer, to pen the fictional diaries of Mrs. Hudson, the landlady of Sherlock Holmes.
In 2013, this literary endeavour culminated in the publication of the book, which was later adapted into a play and premiered at Wilton's Music Hall in East London in 2014. The stage production was a resounding success, and its popularity was further amplified with the radio broadcast of "Mrs. Hudson's Radio Show" in late 2018.
Featuring an all-star cast, including Bob and his father, Barry Cryer, alongside the esteemed talents of Miriam Margolyes, Patricia Hodge, Stephen Critchlow, Orlando Wells, Ruth Bratt, and Jeremy Limb, this radio adaptation showcased the duo's remarkable storytelling prowess.
When not conjuring up characters and plotlines, Bob can be found indulging in his love of sports. An avid athlete, he is an accomplished player of football, rugby, cricket, golf, and tennis.
