Bob Goen's biography is a fascinating tale of a man who has spent his life in the world of entertainment and broadcasting. Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Goen graduated with a degree in telecommunications and film from San Diego State University in 1976. This marked the beginning of his journey in the media industry, as he went on to land a part-time job at KFOX radio in Long Beach, which ultimately led to his first full-time job as a disc jockey/producer for KPRO in Riverside.
Goen's experience in radio led him to transition to television, where he became a sports anchor at KESQ-TV, the ABC affiliate in Palm Springs. During this time, he also served as ESPN's desert-area correspondent, covering various sports events and news stories.
In the late 1980s, Goen began to host various game shows, including Perfect Match, Home Shopping Game, and Blackout, all for syndication. He also hosted the daytime version of Wheel of Fortune from 1989 to 1991, in addition to hosting several other shows, including Hollywood Game and Born Lucky.
From 1993 to 1996, Goen served as the emcee for the worldwide telecasts of the Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA Pageants, all for CBS. Prior to becoming the permanent host of Entertainment Tonight in May 1996, he was a substitute anchor for the series, which he joined as a correspondent and weekend anchor in April 1993.
During his time on ET, Goen interviewed a wide range of celebrities, including Nicole Kidman and Sir Elton John. He also made memorable visits to the sets of two different movies during his sixth season with the show.
When he's not working in front of the camera, Goen is involved in various charitable activities, including his annual golf tournament, the "Bob Goen's Lexus Invitational", which benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
