Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson, two renowned comedians, dominated the entertainment scene in their prime, leaving a lasting impact on the American sense of humor. Their legacy extended to the next generation, as Bob May, the son of Johnson's daughter, June, embarked on a showbiz journey.
Born in New York in 1939, May's early start in the industry began at the tender age of two, when he replaced a midget in the popular comedy show "Sons-a-Fun". He later collaborated with Olsen and Johnson on live television, appearing in various programs such as "Fireball Fun-for-All", "All-Star Revue", and "The Colgate Comedy Hour".
May's multifaceted talents extended to singing and dancing, as he showcased his skills in some of Elvis Presley's early films and featured in several Jerry Lewis productions. In his pursuit of a stunt double role for Red Buttons in the 1966 film Stagecoach, May was unexpectedly offered the part of the Environmental Control Robot in the 20th Century-Fox television series Lost in Space (1965).
On the show, May physically operated the Robot, while Dick Tufeld provided its voice. More recently, May, his wife, and children toured with a stage show inspired by Olsen & Johnson's style, aptly titled "Funs-a-Bustin".
