As the pioneer of "sneaker journalism," he wrote a groundbreaking article titled "Confessions of a Sneaker Addict" in 1990, which set the stage for his future work.
In 2003, García published his critically acclaimed book, "Where'd You Get Those? NYC's Sneaker Culture: 1960-1987," which delved into the rich history of sneaker culture in New York City. He also contributed to other notable publications, including "A History of Basketball in Fifteen Sneakers" and "City/Game: Basketball in New York," where he penned a foreword and an essay, respectively.
During the 1990s, García was a legendary on-air personality, co-hosting the popular "Stretch and Bobbito" show on WKCR alongside Stretch Armstrong. In 2023, the duo was inducted into the NAB Radio Hall of Fame, a testament to their enduring impact on the world of radio.
García's career has been marked by a diverse range of pursuits, including hosting programs for ESPN and NBATV, performing in Nike's iconic "Freestyle" advertisement, voicing the popular EA Sports video game "NBA Street," and directing several documentaries, including "Doin' It in the Park: Pick-Up Basketball, NYC."
