Biography

Brad Fiedel, an extremely talented, prolific, and versatile composer, was born on March 10, 1951, in the vibrant city of New York. His mother, a dancer, and father, a composer and musician, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the arts from a young age.

Brad's journey in music began as a keyboardist for the renowned duo Hall & Oates. He then transitioned to composing music for films in the mid-1970s, starting with low-budget pictures such as The Astrologer (1975),Deadly Hero (1975),and the raunchy Jaws (1975) porno parody Gums (1976).

Throughout his illustrious career, Brad has demonstrated his remarkable range and skill by crafting scores for a wide variety of genres, including dramas like Immediate Family (1989) and The Accused (1988),comedies like Straight Talk (1992) and Fraternity Vacation (1985),and numerous made-for-TV features.

Brad is widely regarded as a pioneer in his field, renowned for his innovative use of electronic instruments and synthesizers in his music. His most iconic work, the powerful and hard-charging metallic score for The Terminator (1984),earned him a Saturn Award nomination for Best Music and cemented his status as a master of his craft.

He collaborated with director James Cameron on several occasions, including the blockbuster smash True Lies (1994),and also supplied the chillingly effective scores for horror pictures like Just Before Dawn (1981),Eyes of Fire (1983),Fright Night (1985),The Midnight Hour (1985),and The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988).

In addition to his film work, Brad has written and/or performed songs featured on several soundtracks. Despite his impressive body of work, Brad Fiedel retired from composing scores for both theatrical features and made-for-TV movies in the late 1990s.

In his personal life, Brad is married to the talented actress Ann Dusenberry.
