Bram Schouw, born in 1979 in The Hague, Netherlands, graduated with honors from the Utrecht School of the Arts.
His graduation film, MARRIAGE, was selected as the official opening film for Curta Cinema Rio de Janeiro in 2005. His subsequent short film, IMPASSE, premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2008 as part of the feature film Stories On Human Rights, a collaboration with renowned filmmakers.
The project received international recognition, being selected at film festivals in New York, Berlin, and Sarajevo. IMPASSE won the Special Mention at the International Amsterdam Film Festival and the NFTVM Vers Award for young Dutch filmmakers.
After directing the TV film NINA SATANA, written by Urszula Antoniak, and episodes of acclaimed television series such as OVERSPEL and VAN GOD LOS, Bram Schouw won a Golden Calf (Dutch Academy Award) at the Netherlands Film Festival with his short film SEVILLA.
SEVILLA premiered in Clermont-Ferrand, was selected at over 100 international film festivals, and won multiple awards, including being named one of Vimeo's 10 Best Of The Year in 2014.
Bram's first feature film, Broers (Brothers),premiered at Premiers Plan in Angers, France in 2018. The film, about the bond between two young brothers, received critical acclaim and won several awards, including Best New Director at the Brooklyn International Film Festival and the Silver Screen Award at the Hollywood Film Festival.
Childhood Dreams, an original series by Marnie Blok and Bram Schouw, premiered at Canneseries in 2023. The 9×50-minute family saga follows a family's journey through love, loss, and life over several generations, starting in the tumultuous 1960s.
Bram Schouw is married to actress and director Paloma Aquilera Valdebenito, and they have a son, Roman Gabriel, together. They reside in Marseille, France.
