Brent David Fraser is a direct descendant of 17th, 18th, and 19th century Scottish, Dutch, and Austrian ancestors who rose to prominence in America as builders, church reformers, freemasons, businessmen, and industrialists. His heritage is deeply rooted in the Highland Clan Fraser of Lovat and noble family trees on his father's side.
Born in Bremerton, Washington, Fraser grew up in Bellingham and began his career as an actor and singer-songwriter in the Seattle live theatre and music scene in 1985. As a child, he wrote poetry and learned to play the guitar, harmonica, piano, and violin. His early influences were his mother's favorites, including Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Jim Croce, and Jackson Browne.
Fraser's tastes evolved to encompass pop-radio, hard rock, David Bowie, new wave, 80s glam, and Tom Waits. After moving to Seattle, he worked in professional theatre and as a "busker" at Pike Place Market. He was accepted into The North Carolina School of the Arts but returned to Seattle to study privately with Mark Jenkins and work as a professional actor and musician.
Fraser's breakthrough came when he landed his first feature film role in Keith Gordon's The Chocolate War, which caught the attention of Los Angeles talent scouts and encouraged him to relocate to the city. He went on to star in a string of independent films, including Jezebel's Kiss, Wild Orchid 2, The Dark Side of Genius, The Little Death, and Wild at Heart.
Fraser's chameleon-like talents were utilized in the gritty Broken Vessels, for which he co-wrote much of the music and score with Martin Blasick. He also appeared in television series such as The Tracy Ullman Show, Dark Skies, and The Outer Limits, and had a recurring role on the show Fame-L.A.
As a singer-songwriter, Fraser has recorded songs with artists such as Warren Zevon and Don Henley's band. He has also written songs for Italian artist Elisa Tofoli's album Pipes and Flowers and has been involved in various musical projects, including a concept CD titled "Albion Moonlight and the Sea of Troubles."
Fraser's Scottish heritage is close to his heart, and he is a lifetime member of the Clan Fraser Association for California and a Fellow in good standing of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He is also a member of the Orange County Commission for the Administration of Justice and is active in promoting nonprofits, religious corporations, and startup ventures that contribute to the greater good.
Fraser splits his time between Bellingham, Washington, and Laguna Beach, California, where he is editing his autobiographical novel "My Highland Heart" and performing as a singer-songwriter. He is the founder and CEO of A Mhòr-fhaiche PR, Inc., a company that forms and promotes nonprofits, religious corporations, and startup ventures that contribute to the betterment of society.
