Brian Bird, a 35-year veteran of the Hollywood film and television industry, has dedicated his career as a writer, producer, and media professional to creating high-caliber, life-affirming, and redemptive true stories and uplifting entertainment projects.
As the co-founder and partner with Michael Landon, Jr. of Believe Pictures, Bird specializes in life-and-faith-affirming films and television, with a focus on producing high-quality content that inspires and uplifts audiences.
With a background in journalism, Bird graduated from California State University at Fullerton in 1980 with a degree in journalism, and began his career as a staff reporter and sports writer for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. He then served as Director of Public Relations for the international relief organization, World Vision, where he also wrote widely in the religious press, including news and cover stories for Christianity Today magazine.
Bird's work in Hollywood has spanned nearly four decades, with credits including feature films, television series, and original pilots. Some of his notable writing and producing credits include the feature films "The Heart of Man" (2018),"The Case for Christ" (2017),"Captive" (2015),"The Ultimate Life" (2012),and "Not Easily Broken" (2009),as well as the Hallmark Channel original series "When Calls the Heart" (2014-2021) and its spin-off series "When Hope Calls" (2020).
In addition to his work in film and television, Bird has also served as co-executive producer and writer on the popular television series "Touched by an Angel," and has written screen adaptations of several novels, including "In Silence" for Paramount Pictures, "Trail of Tears: The Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation" for TNT, and "Before Time Runs Out" for Fox.
Throughout his career, Bird has spoken widely on the art and craft of screenwriting at various universities and institutions, including Pepperdine University, Biola University, Stephens College, and Long Island University.
Bird is married to his wife, Patty, with whom he has five children and two grandchildren.
