Brian Cage is a renowned American bodybuilder and professional wrestler, widely recognized for his stage name Brian Cage. Currently, he is an active performer for Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling, while also frequently competing for the Southern California-based promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). In PWG, he has held the World Tag Team Championship once, alongside Michael Elgin. Additionally, Cage has wrestled under the alias Kris Logan at Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).
Cage's fascination with professional wrestling began like many others, watching it on television as a child. During his early years, he befriended Chris Kanyon after creating a sign that Kanyon noticed at a show held at Arco Arena in Sacramento. This chance encounter led to a lasting friendship and Kanyon's significant influence on Cage's decision to pursue a career in professional wrestling.
The friendship ultimately led to Cage and his friends establishing their own wrestling promotion, Main-Event Wrestling Federation (MWF),in 2004. Cage's professional wrestling debut took place when he faced Kanyon at an MWF show, with Cage emerging victorious in both matches. During this period, Cage was training at Pro Championship Wrestling, competing in matches and eventually making a name for himself at All Pro Wrestling.
Cage's subsequent move to Atlanta, at Kanyon's suggestion, allowed him to compete in Deep South Wrestling (DSW),where he shared the ring with current WWE Superstars such as Kofi Kingston, Heath Slater, Brodus Clay, and Zack Ryder. However, upon WWE's disconnection from DSW, Cage returned to California. Prior to his departure, Kanyon asked Cage to assume the Mortis character, an honor Cage gladly accepted, recognizing it as a significant privilege.
Cage is the only individual, aside from Kanyon, to portray the Mortis character. In the years that followed, Cage continued to compete on the independent circuit, participating in promotions such as All Pro Wrestling, Supreme Pro Wrestling, and Fog City Wrestling. His final independent match took place at Supreme Pro Wrestling in Sacramento against Adam Thornstowe.
Upon Cage's resignation with WWE in 2008, he returned the Mortis outfit to Kanyon, who had decided to make a comeback to the ring. Tragically, Kanyon's passing made it impossible for Cage to retrieve the Mortis outfit from Kanyon's family, leaving him unable to continue portraying the character as a tribute to his friend and mentor.
