Born in Red Deer, Alberta, a city in the heart of Western Canada, Brian's early life took a turn when his family relocated to Antigonish, Nova Scotia, a charming town on the east coast. It was here that his passion for acting first began to take shape.
At the tender age of 18, Brian won his first acting award at the Antigonish One-Act Play Festival, a remarkable achievement considering he performed with a broken foot and never once stood during the entire run of the play. This early success sparked a fire within him, driving him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
In 2011, Brian's talents caught the attention of industry professionals, earning him recognition for his work with the sketch troupe Picnicface. The group's critically acclaimed series on The Comedy Network showcased Brian's impressive range and versatility as a performer. His hard work paid off in 2012 when he won three awards at the Canadian Comedy Awards: Best Writing for TV, Best Ensemble, and Best TV Series.
However, Brian's journey took an unexpected turn in 2012 when he quit the Teletoon animation Rocket Monkeys and Picnicface, opting to "retire" from comedy and acting to focus on other pursuits. He dedicated himself to promoting mental health awareness and advocating for equal rights.
In 2013, Brian's passion for improv led him to partner with Dalhousie University and the NDP Nova Scotia government to offer free public improv classes aimed at improving individuals' self-esteem and mental health. These classes not only provided a platform for people to express themselves but also helped to break down social barriers.
Brian's impressive resume includes appearances on popular TV shows such as Schitt's Creek, Seed, and Off the Record with Michael Landsberg. However, it was his starring role in the indie-comedy Your Money or Your Wife that truly showcased his range and versatility as a performer.
In a bold move, Brian began referring to himself as the biblical "Messiah" in 2015, stating that Jesus had stolen his gig long before anyone else started stealing material. He also made headlines in 2016 by courting American actress Jennifer Lawrence, although the relationship ultimately didn't materialize.
Throughout his career, Brian has remained committed to his craft, constantly working on new projects and exploring new ways to express himself. He is an advocate for mental health awareness and equal rights, and he is always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a warm hug to those in need.
