Cass Daley, the daughter of a streetcar conductor, embarked on a career as a band vocalist, showcasing her flair for zany comedy that quickly made her a huge hit in nightclubs and on radio. As her popularity grew, she began working in films during the early 1940s, captivating audiences with her unique blend of eccentric singing, dancing, and offbeat charm.
Her unusual, endearing appearance, characterized by her gangly build, brassy personality, and distinctive buck teeth, further endeared her to moviegoers during the 1940s and 1950s. One of her most notable roles was in the 1943 comedy film "Crazy House," where she played both herself and a goofy lookalike named "Sadie Silverfish" alongside comedians Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson.
After retiring from films in the 1950s, Cass Daley made occasional appearances until the 1970s. Tragically, her life was cut short in a freak accident at home, where she fell over a glass table, causing a shard of broken glass to slash her neck and ultimately lead to her death from bleeding.
