Chanya Button

Chanya Joyce Dorothy Button, a celebrated English director and screenwriter, entered the world on December 25, 1986. Pursuing her academic ambitions at the esteemed Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA),she refined her skills in the assistant directors' department on the illustrious Harry Potter franchise. This invaluable experience served as a foundation for her future endeavors, as she went on to direct two feature films: Burn Burn Burn, released in 2015, and Vita & Virginia, a 2018 production that she also co-wrote. Building upon her success in the realm of film, Button transitioned to television, showcasing her versatility by directing a diverse range of period dramas, including World on Fire and The Spanish Princess. Moreover, she has had the distinction of being entrusted with the responsibility of directing the 60th anniversary special episode of the iconic Doctor Who series, specifically "The Giggle," which premiered in 2023.
