Charlie Alejandro was born Shirley Jaudicia Cordero in San Jose, Costa Rica, where she was abandoned by her birth mother at the age of two and taken in by her Godmother's family. They raised her as their own, and her adoptive mother, Maria Otilia Mainieri-Guerrero, brought Charlie to the United States in 1969.
Charlie's early life was marked by a strong interest in acting, and she was cast in her first role, Lucy in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," shortly after arriving in the US. However, her mother refused to take her to her audition for the TV show "Zoom," and Charlie's dreams of acting were put on hold.
Charlie grew up in a low-income, dysfunctional home and left at the age of 17 after the birth of her first son, Derek. She went on to have three more sons with her first husband and earned her GED, medical assisting certificate, and became a Metropolitan Police officer in Boston.
Charlie's law enforcement career was marked by several milestones, including becoming the first female in the state of Massachusetts to join a tactical unit and one of only a handful of women on a tactical unit. She remained an entry team member, trainer, search and rescue, and intel officer until the Metropolitan Police was merged with the State Police, Capitol Police, and Registry Police in 1992.
After her divorce in 1994, Charlie remarried and had two more children with her second husband, Mel Alejandro. She took an early retirement from the State Police to raise their blended family and worked as a community organizer, criminal justice instructor, security adviser, and motivational speaker.
Charlie's love of acting was rekindled in 2008 when she started a blog based on her journal writings and began taking on small speaking roles in films and TV shows. She went on to win several awards for her acting and writing and became the Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Police Museum and a partner and co-owner of Beantown Statie Production Company.
Charlie has written numerous scripts and acted in a wide array of roles, including a recurring role in the web series "Red Circles" as Medical Examiner Dr. Hutchinson. She has won various awards for her acting, writing, and community involvement and is currently working on a new media SAG project, Code 13: Unreadable, which she co-wrote with Seth Chitwood.
