Charlie Kerr is a multifaceted Canadian individual, exceling in the realms of acting, music, and playwriting. His remarkable journey began in 2016, after the successful festival run of two movies he starred in, earning him the prestigious title of "A star to watch" from Variety Magazine.
Kerr's impressive acting credits include his notable roles as Jory in Lost Solace (2016) and as the Rebel Commander in An American Dream: The Education of William Bowman (2016). Furthermore, he is the lead singer of the alternative rock band Hotel Mira, and attended secondary school at Point Grey Secondary in Vancouver.
As a child, Kerr was captivated by film, particularly the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977),which he claims to have seen over 300 times each. His admiration for the character Mr. Pink, played by Steve Buscemi in Reservoir Dogs (1992),inspired him to pursue a similar path. The life-changing experience of watching The Departed (2006) in his teens led him to acting, with a strong desire to emulate Leonardo DiCaprio, even going so far as to walk around in a Red Sox hat and speaking in a Boston accent for several months.
Kerr's extensive training in theatre includes working with renowned teachers and programs, such as Lori Triolo, Lola Cohen, Ted Zurkowski, Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and Capilano College. His first acting role was as Bobby in the David Mamet play American Buffalo.
Additionally, Kerr is the co-founder of the Blood Pact Theatre Company, alongside Bryce Hodgson, Libby Osler, and Bri Proke. The company's inaugural production, 'Kill Your Parents in Viking, Alberta', received critical acclaim at The Storefront Theatre in Toronto in 2016. This was followed by 'After Wrestling' at the Factory Theatre in Toronto in 2018, which he co-wrote with Hodgson and played one of the leads.
Kerr's passion for music began at a young age, with his first club gig being in a Beatles cover band at the age of 11.
