Christopher Duddy is a renowned cinematographer with a career spanning over four decades. He has worked on numerous blockbuster movies, earning him a reputation as a sought-after professional in the industry.
Duddy began his career in 1985 at Industrial Light and Magic, George Lucas' visual effects studio, where he gained valuable experience filming visual effects and action sequences for films like THE ABYSS, TOTAL RECALL, and TERMINATOR 2.
He continued to work with James Cameron on several projects, including TRUE LIES, TERMINATOR 2 3D, and TITANIC, for which he shot the climactic ship-sinking scene. Duddy was also part of the Academy Award-winning visual effects team for these films.
In the early 2000s, Duddy was one of the three cinematographers who worked on the acclaimed Kevin Costner film THIRTEEN DAYS. He has since directed photography on several independent features, including horror movies like THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI and ALL SOULS DAY.
In 2005, Duddy formed Open Sky Entertainment, a production company that developed and produced feature films. He made his feature film directorial debut with the comedy COUGAR CLUB and also served as Director of Photography on the horror film THE WIZARD OF GORE.
In 2012, Duddy began working on documentary filmmaking, directing the music documentary IT'S SO EASY AND OTHER LIES about Guns and Roses and Velvet Revolver. The film received a theatrical release in 2016 and is currently available on Amazon.
Duddy then transitioned to television, working as second unit director on over 100 episodes of the CBS show SCORPION. He went on to serve as Director of Photography on the CBS series MACGYVER, which concluded its five-season run.
Currently, Duddy is in post-production on the highly anticipated remake of the classic horror film NOSFERATU, set to be released on Halloween 2021.
