William Charles Jeffreys III, also known as Chuck Jeffreys, was born on July 23, 1958, in Washington, D.C. His interest in martial arts began at the age of 8, when he started training in Western Boxing and Tae Kwon Do.
As he grew older, Jeffreys continued to explore different styles of martial arts, including Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, which he began training in during the early 1970s. He was well-known for his kung fu demonstrations in junior high school and high school.
In 1977, Jeffreys created his own martial arts class, Liberated Martial Arts (LMA),and established a Wushu/LMA class at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Maryland, with an expanded branch in Germany under Shifu Leroy Thomas.
Throughout his career, Jeffreys has trained in a variety of martial arts styles, including Kali, Long Fist, Nan Chuan, Indonesian Pentjak Silat, Chin-Na, Grappling, and numerous weapons. He holds black belts/sashes in several styles, including an 8th-degree black sash in Shaolin Wushu under GM Dennis Brown, and was an apprentice instructor of Jun Fan kickboxing & Kali under Dan Inosanto.
In addition to his work in martial arts, Jeffreys has also pursued a career as an actor and stuntman. He has appeared in numerous films, including Tears of the Sun, Dead Presidents, 12 Monkeys, Boys, Shadow Conspiracy, Black Dog, Out of Sight, Summer of Sam, Gladiator, Hannibal, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, and Along Came a Spider.
Jeffreys has also worked on several television shows, including Oz and The Wire. He has performed stunts for many films and has worked with some of the most celebrated names in martial arts cinema, including legendary B-movie director Godfrey Ho Jeung-Keung and Hong Kong film producer Ng See-Yuen.
In 1994, Jeffreys worked on a CD-ROM martial arts video game called Supreme Warrior, made by Digital Pictures. The game was filmed in the lot of the Shaw Brothers, the filmmakers responsible for creating classic movies like One-Armed Swordsman, Five Deadly Venoms, 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Chinatown Kid, and The Kid with the Golden Arm.
As an experienced fight choreographer, Jeffreys has worked with many actors and martial artists, including Wesley Snipes, with whom he trained the sword for the movie Blade. He has also choreographed fights for Noah, Black Mass, Spider-Man, and Freddy vs. Jason, incorporating street fighting techniques and grappling moves.
