Clayton Davis, the Senior Awards Editor at the renowned 117-year-old Hollywood industry trade publication, Variety, has had a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades.
Before joining Variety in September 2020, Davis founded and served as editor-in-chief of his self-owned Awards Circuit, a company and website he created to cover the film awards scene.
At Variety, Davis has been responsible for covering all aspects of the Academy Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards, and other prestigious awards ceremonies, including breaking news and authoring cover stories on notable individuals such as Denzel Washington, Ke Huy Quan, Troy Kotsur, and Spike Lee.
As an award-winning journalist, Davis has received numerous accolades, including being named one of the Imagen's Influential Latinos in Media in 2022 and 2023, and receiving the Excellence in Entertainment Journalism Award from NALIP. He has also won a Telly Award for co-programming the inaugural Celebration of Latino Cinema for the Critics Choice Association, where he serves as a board member.
In addition to his writing duties, Davis co-hosts the weekly podcast series "Awards Circuit" and is the creator of Variety's documentary filmmaker interview series "Doc Dreams" and weekly video news series "The Take," for which he won the LA Press Club award for best host/anchor in 2022.
