Clayton Watson, the talented Australian actor, made a significant breakthrough in the film industry with his remarkable performance as "The Kid" alongside Keanu Reeves in Lana Wachowski's sci-fi epic series, Matrix Reloaded & Matrix Revolutions.
Born on March 23rd, 1977, in Glenelg, Adelaide, Clayton began his acting journey at the tender age of 7, taking to the stage with ease. He further honed his craft at the Australian Film & TV Academy, where he studied for three years before being poached by a talent agent.
Clayton's early roles in TV and stage included his first lead role in High Flyers, which led to him landing the coveted parts of Mickey Steele in Always Greener and The Kid in Matrix Reloaded & Matrix Revolutions in the same year. The actor's versatility and talent were on full display as he simultaneously shot the two feature films and a television show.
His exceptional ability as a character actor was showcased in his role as iconic Australian cricket Captain Ian Chappell in Howzat! Kerry Packer's War, alongside Guy Pearce and Hermione Corfield. Clayton's dedication to his craft is evident in his portrayal of separate characters, having lost and gained over 33 pounds for two film roles.
Awards and accolades have followed Clayton's impressive performances, including an AFI award and numerous others from his peers. He continues to choose projects that are close to his heart, including producing and directing the upcoming film Starting Blocks, which tells the story of Australia's most historical and famous footrace, set to debut in 2023.
In addition to his work in Starting Blocks, Clayton has recently completed the feature film Michael Wardeath, a powerful story about PTSD in war veterans and suicide, which he wrote, led, produced, and co-directed in New York.
