Biography

DARRELL FETTY BIO

Darrell Fetty, a talented individual with a passion for storytelling, has had a remarkable career in the entertainment industry. Born in West Virginia, Fetty grew up in a small town and was the only student in his sixth-grade class, yet he graduated at the top of his class from one of the last one-room schoolhouses in the nation.

Fetty's early life was marked by a love for music and acting. He played piano for a church choir, sang and played in rock bands, and acted in local productions. At Marshall University, he was active in theatre, WMUL TV & radio, and the Parthenon newspaper. He even created and fronted "The Satisfied Minds," recording artists for Plato Records.

After graduating, Fetty moved to Los Angeles and landed a job in the mail room of American International Pictures. He worked his way up to Story Analyst, during which time he also pursued an acting career, auditioning for every opportunity and landing roles in local theatre and student film productions.

Fetty's music career continued to flourish, with him joining the L.A. band "Pacific Ocean" with actor/singer Edward James Olmos. He also composed songs for TV and movies and collaborated with poet/writer James Kavanaugh on the stage musical "Street Music."

Fetty's first paid acting job was as a teenage bully on the TV show "Room 222." He went on to guest star in over 100 roles on episodic TV, including "Happy Days," "Starsky & Hutch," "Kojak," and "Streets Of San Francisco." He also appeared in numerous TV movies and mini-series, as well as feature films like "Endangered Species," "Blood Beach," and "The Wind And The Lion."

Fetty's writing career began with a screenplay intended as a starring vehicle for himself. Although it was optioned but never produced, it led to more writing jobs on TV shows like "Simon & Simon" and "Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer." He also teamed with MTV director Francis Delia to write music videos for various recording artists.

In his personal life, Fetty married actress/model Joyce Ingalls in 1984, and they had two sons, Derek and Tyler. After the birth of their children, Fetty turned to writing full-time, taking a staff job on the NBC series "Simon & Simon."
