Darren Hynes, a writer from Fogo Island, Newfoundland, has made a significant impact in the literary world with his published works. His debut novel, "Flight", released in 2010, garnered attention and was nominated for the prestigious Relit Award. This was followed by his second novel, "Creeps", which was published in 2013 and received great acclaim. The book was shortlisted for the White Pine Award and selected as one of the top five must-read novels of 2014 by Faze Magazine.
In addition to his literary accomplishments, Darren holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph. He has also graduated from the prestigious Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theater Training at the Stratford Festival of Canada.
As a multi-talented individual, Darren has worked as both an actor and writer in television and film. His recent credits include the feature documentary "Alias" and the scripted series "Frontier", "Nurses", and the award-winning "Trickster", which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was nominated for 15 Canadian Screen Awards, winning the Writers Guild of Canada Award for Best Scripted Series.
Darren has also shared his expertise as a university professor of English at Memorial University, a creative writing instructor, an acting instructor at the Canadian Centre for Indigenous Theatre, and a lead facilitator for the Voices Project, a performance-based workshop series that brought the creative and performing arts to at-risk youth in Ontario, Canada.
