Darryl, the renowned bass player of the iconic Washington DC punk band Bad Brains, embarked on his musical journey with the group in 1976, initially as a jazz fusion quartet operating under the moniker Mind Power. As the band's development unfolded, they shifted their focus towards punk rock in 1978, a stylistic pivot that would come to define their identity.
Throughout the band's remarkable nearly thirty-year existence, Darryl, alongside guitarist Dr. Know, has remained a constant presence, a testament to their unwavering dedication and commitment to the group. In contrast, vocalist HR and drummer Earl Hudson, although integral to the band's early success, temporarily departed to pursue their Human Rights reggae/dub side project, leaving Darryl and Dr. Know to steer the ship and ensure the band's continuity.
