Dave Sheridan is a multifaceted American entertainer, distinguished for his impressive performances as an actor, producer, and writer. His most notable role is that of Special Officer Doofy in the comedy film "Scary Movie", a parody of deputy sheriff Dewey Riley from the popular horror movie "Scream".
Early in his career, Dave interned at "Saturday Night Live" during the 1991-1992 season, subsequently joining the renowned comedy troupe, "The Second City", in Chicago. There, he wrote, directed, and produced "Dave Sheridan's America", a multimedia stage show that showcased his talents. In 1995, he created the MTV reality series "Buzzkill", which featured three friends staging elaborate pranks and capturing the events on video.
Dave has made appearances in various music videos, including the 2002 Red Hot Chili Peppers' videos "By the Way" and "Universally Speaking", in which he played a crazy taxi driver. In 2004, he formed his band, Van Stone, and went on tour. In 2008-09, he hosted the Fox Reality Channel series "Smile...You're Under Arrest!".
One of his most iconic roles is that of Officer Doofy in the 2000 comedy film "Scary Movie". To this day, Dave continues to don the Officer Doofy attire and pose for photos with fans at pop culture conventions. Since then, he has starred in numerous films produced by the Wayans Brothers, including "Little Man", "50 Shades of Black", and both "A Haunted House" films. He also portrayed the character Doug in the 2001 film "Ghost World".
