David Caves is a talented actor, best known for his iconic role as Jack Hodgson in the BBC's prime-time hit show Silent Witness. He has also made a significant impact in films, such as Jackie (2016) alongside Natalie Portman, and 15 Days (2019),which aired on Channel 5.
Born on August 7th, 1978, in Belfast, David attended Campbell College, where both his parents were teachers. He later went on to St Andrews University in Scotland, where he studied French and German, graduating with a BA (Hons).
David's passion for acting led him to spend a year in France as an English teacher before being offered a place at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. His first professional stage role was the brooding anti-hero Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights (2005).
Prior to Silent Witness, David had a prolific career in theatre, with notable roles including The Duchess of Malfi, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Cymbeline, Cheek by Jowl, Troilus and Cressida, Cheek by Jowl, 'Charlie' in Stones in his Pockets, Mark Goucher Productions, 'MacDuff' in Macbeth, Cheek by Jowl, 'Bosola' in The Duchess of Malfi, Northampton Royal and Derngate theatre, 'Macheath' in The Beggars Opera, Regents Park Open Air Theatre, 'Deflores' in The Changeling, Southwark Playhouse, and 'Petruchio' in The Taming of the Shrew, Royal Shakespeare Company.
Since 2012, David has played the role of cage-fighting forensic scientist Jack Hodgson in Silent Witness, earning him repeated nominations for Best Actor at the TV Choice Awards. He has also appeared in films such as Ironclad: Battle for Blood (2014) and Widow's Walk (2017),and has voiced broadcast commercials for World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
In 2013, David won the Spirit of Tomorrow award at the Belfast Top 40 Under 40 Awards. He has also taken part in 'Pages of the Sea', a nationwide Armistice event commissioned by director Danny Boyle.
