Notably, he is the mastermind and wordsmith behind the acclaimed Amazon Prime Original series, "The Rig". Prior to his foray into the world of screenwriting, Macpherson embarked on a series of unconventional careers, including stints in the UK parliament, the police force, where he focused on youth justice, and environmental policy alongside the Scottish Government.
It was his spec script, "Wrath", that catapulted him into the spotlight, earning a nomination for the prestigious Edinburgh TV Festival's New Writing Award and simultaneously securing a spot on the esteemed Brit List of the best unproduced screenplays in the UK. This breakthrough led to a seamless transition into a career in television and film, with multiple projects currently in development.
