David Nykl, a Prague-born, Vancouver-raised actor, arrived in Canada at the tender age of two when his family emigrated from Czechoslovakia in the aftermath of the Soviet-led Warsaw Pact invasion of the country.
As a young actor, David started out in Vancouver, honing his craft in community theater, landing small TV parts, and taking classes in dance and music. He went on to graduate from the University of British Columbia with a Major in English Literature and Theater.
Following his graduation, David began to make a name for himself in Vancouver's theater scene, appearing in productions at Bard on the Beach, Pacific Theatre, and the Gateway Theatre. He soon embarked on a tour with a production of "Waiting for Godot" to Prague, where he remained for nearly a decade.
During his time in Prague, David co-founded the renowned English language theater company Misery Loves Co. and appeared in several local Czech companies, including divadlo na zabradli, kaspar, and divadlo v dlouhe.
After returning to Canada in the late 1990s, David's career took off, with appearances in dozens of film and TV projects, including Stargate: Atlantis, Arrow, Supernatural, Fringe, Eureka, Continuum, Tomorrowland, HBO's The Sleepers, and Carnival Row, which he has been a part of since 2019.
David currently resides in Vancouver with his family.
