Biography

David Von Ancken is a multifaceted television director and executive producer, as well as a feature film director, boasting an impressive array of credits in both mediums.

As an executive producer and director, Von Ancken was instrumental in bringing the epic six-hour action-adventure-thriller, Tut, to life for Spike. This ambitious project starred Ben Kingsley and delved into the fascinating story of King Tut's ascension to power, the turbulent political intrigue of his rule, and the enduring mystery surrounding his untimely death.

Von Ancken's work behind the camera also extended to the critically acclaimed series, Salem, which premiered on WGN and was subsequently picked up for a second season. He served as executive producer and director for the show's inaugural season.

Additionally, Von Ancken was involved in the development of AMC's Hell on Wheels, initially directing the pilot episode before taking on an executive producer/director role for the show's first two seasons.

Throughout his career, Von Ancken has demonstrated his versatility by directing numerous episodes of popular series, including Californication, The Shield, CSI: NY, Cold Case, Intelligence, The Following, House of Lies, Oz, Numb3rs, Heroes, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, and Person of Interest.

In addition to his work in television, Von Ancken has also ventured into feature filmmaking. He co-wrote and directed the civil war action-thriller, Seraphim Falls, which starred Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson. Von Ancken received a nomination for the Gotham's Breakthrough Director Award for his work on the film.

Von Ancken's impressive debut short film, Bullet in the Brain, won the prestigious Million Dollar Film Festival, as well as numerous other awards at festivals such as Rotterdam, The Silver Bear at Chicago, and South By Southwest.
