Westberg was born and raised in the vibrant city of Seattle, Washington, where he developed a strong foundation that would serve him well in his future endeavors. He earned a degree in Radio/TV Speech from Washington State University, a prestigious institution that has a long history of producing talented and accomplished individuals.
After completing his education, Westberg decided to take a break from academics and pursue a career in the military. He served as a naval officer onboard a destroyer, primarily operating in the Western Pacific, where he gained valuable experience and developed important skills that would benefit him in the years to come.
Following his military service, Westberg set his sights on Hollywood, where he hoped to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry. He arrived in 1966, eager to take advantage of the many opportunities that Los Angeles had to offer.
Westberg's progress in Hollywood was swift and impressive. By the early 1970s, he was earning a living as an actor, a career that he would continue to pursue for the next ten years. During this time, he appeared in a wide range of productions, honing his craft and building his reputation as a talented and dedicated performer.
In 1982, Westberg decided to take a break from acting and move behind the camera. He was hired as an administrative assistant at Actors Equity, where he oversaw the agency's department and the 99-seat Waiver Program. This experience gave him a valuable understanding of the inner workings of the entertainment industry, and prepared him for his future roles.
In 1983, Westberg joined the staff at ICM, where he served as the West Coast Head of Theatre. He was responsible for overseeing the agency's theatre department, and working with clients to help them achieve their goals.
In 1986, Westberg made the move to Triad Artists Inc., where he covered theatre and independent features. He worked closely with clients to develop their careers, and helped to secure them roles in a wide range of productions.
In 1991, Westberg established his own management company, David Westberg Management, which he headed for the next fifteen years. During this time, he worked with a wide range of clients, including actors, writers, and directors.
After fifteen years at the helm of his management company, Westberg decided to return to acting, a career that he had put on hold for so many years. He has since appeared in a wide range of productions, including film, television, and theatre.
In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Westberg is also a dedicated philanthropist. He has served as Chairman of the Western Council of the Actors Fund of America, and has been a member of the SAG.AFTRA Board of Directors of the Los Angeles local for the past four years.
