Dennis Edwards is a renowned American soul and R&B singer, best recognized for his tenure as the lead vocalist of the iconic Motown Records group, The Temptations.
In 1968, Edwards joined The Temptations, succeeding David Ruffin, and went on to perform with the group from 1968 to 1976, 1980 to 1984, and 1987 to 1989.
During the mid-1980s, Edwards ventured into a solo career, achieving significant success in 1984 with the hit single "Don't Look Any Further," featuring Siedah Garrett.
Until his passing, Edwards remained the lead singer of The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards, a splinter group of The Temptations.
Dennis Edwards was portrayed by Charles Ley in the biographical television mini-series The Temptations, which aired in 1998, although he was not the primary focus of the series, as it primarily centered around the Ruffin/Kendricks-era Temptations lineup.
In 2015, The Temptations Review group was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in Detroit, Michigan, on October 4th, with Edwards also receiving the Living Legend Award.
