Do Kyung-soo, professionally known as D.O., is a multifaceted South Korean artist who has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry as a singer and actor.
Born to excel, D.O. began his musical journey in primary school, showcasing his vocal prowess in local singing competitions throughout his high school years. His exceptional talent caught the attention of industry experts, and he was advised to audition for SM Entertainment after winning a local singing contest in 2010.
Following his impressive performance, D.O. became a trainee with SM Entertainment during his last two years of high school. He was eventually formally introduced as the eighth member of the popular K-pop group EXO on January 30, 2012.
In addition to his group's activities, D.O. has explored his passion for acting, making his big-screen debut in the 2014 film Cart, where he played a supporting role as a high school student. His performance earned him praise from film critic Heo Ji-woong, and he was subsequently nominated for the Best New Actor award at the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards.
D.O.'s small-screen debut came later that year in the SBS drama It's Okay, That's Love, starring alongside Gong Hyo-jin and Jo In-sung. His portrayal of a supporting character earned him critical acclaim and recognition.
In 2016, D.O. starred alongside Jo Jung-suk and Park Shin-hye in the film My Annoying Brother, playing a national level Judo athlete. His outstanding performance in the film earned him the Blue Dragon Film Awards' Best New Actor award the following year.
D.O.'s next major role came in 2018, when he played a crown prince in the small-screen drama 100 Days My Prince. The series was a massive commercial success, becoming the fifth highest-rated Korean drama in cable television history. His performance earned him the Most Popular Actor award at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards.
Before embarking on his acting journey, D.O. served his mandatory military service, enlisting on July 1, 2019, and will complete his service in January 2021. To mark the occasion, he released a solo track titled "That's Okay" through the SM Station project, which he co-wrote himself.
