Don E. FauntLeRoy, a renowned Director of Photography, has made a swift and impressive rise in the industry, earning him a nomination from the American Society of Cinematographers after only seven years of experience. His major break came in 1994 with the opportunity to shoot the epic mini-series "North & South: Book 3, Heaven & Hell" for David L. Wolper, which led to an ASC nomination.
Throughout his career, Don has worked with some of the most esteemed directors and cinematographers, including Harry Stradling Sr., Peter Hyams, Michael Chapman, Martin Scorsese, Robert Surtees, Herbert Ross, Haskell Wexler, James Cameron, Adam Greenberg, Richard Donner, Sam Peckinpah, Billy Wilder, Steven Spielberg, and Blake Edwards, to name a few. His impressive technical knowledge and vast experience have enabled him to direct and photograph some of the screen's most talented actors, including Sam Shepard, Dean Stockwell, Diane Keaton, Stockard Channing, Diane Lane, Mimi Rogers, Elizabeth Pena, Rutger Hauer, Jacqueline Bisset, Linda Hamilton, and his wife, Lesley-Anne Down.
Don's passion for the industry was sparked by his grandfather, a still cameraman, and his father, an optical cameraman. His grandfather's collection of antique cameras and photographic equipment was passed down to Don, and he has continued to build upon it, now possessing a rare and virtually irreplaceable array of film cameras and paraphernalia, which will be inherited by his eldest daughter, Season FauntLeRoy, an accomplished young assistant camera-person in her own right.
When working on a project, Don insists on using Panavision equipment, both film and digital, as well as Eastman Kodak stock, which he considers the best in the business. With his extensive experience and technical expertise, Don has established himself as one of the most talented young cinematographers in the industry.
