Don Michael Paul's illustrious career has taken him on a global journey, traversing the iconic Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the majestic basilicas of Budapest, the Black Sea shores of Bulgaria, the high-veld of South Africa, the picturesque shores of Vancouver, BC, the Blue Mosque of Istanbul, the charming Greek Isle of Santorini, and the dense jungles of Krabi, Thailand.
Known for his remarkable ability to tackle large-scale films on modest budgets, DMP has honed his craft on five different continents, with aspirations to reach Oceania and the Antarctic before his career comes to a close. He has a penchant for edgy, character-based action, which inspired him to write his freshman script, "Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man," on a legal pad. The script sold, and Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson signed on, leading to its production. This success led to a four-picture deal with MGM, yielding more action-packed fare, including the John Dillinger biopic "Public Enemies" and the adaptation of Davis Grubb's award-winning novel "Night Of The Hunter."
Perseverance, daily writing, and a deep passion for filmmaking have propelled DMP onto the radar of notable industry professionals, including Joel Silver, who hired him to adapt John Gilstrap's bestselling novel "Nathan's Run" for Lorenzo di Bonaventura at Warner Bros. He has since written for esteemed producers and directors, including Stephen J. Cannell, Clint Culpepper, Bob Greenblatt, David Janollari, Barry Josephson, Jordan Kerner, Aaron Spelling, and many more. DMP is proud to have penned TV pilots for ABC, CBS, FOX, and UPN.
As a seasoned filmmaker, DMP has directed seventeen movies to date, with his most recent project being "Death Race: Beyond Anarchy," which won the Best Stunts award at the 2018 International Motor Film Awards. His 2019 film "Jarhead: Law of Return" was screened at the Haifa International Film Festival, and his monster party "Tremors: Shrieker Island" topped the Netflix Top 10 list in October 2020 and became an Amazon #1 DVD New Release in the Horror and Action Genre. DMP is currently working on the next installment of "Death Race" for NBCUniversal, set to premiere in the summer of 2021.
As a global citizen, DMP holds a U.S. Passport and retains a current EU Permanent Residency, granting him a unique co-production and content-qualifying status worldwide. He is always on the lookout for original screenplays with a distinct, singular vision, eager to capture that elusive "one big idea."
