Person Biography:
Doug Williams was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. He discovered his passion for entertainment at a young age and decided to pursue a career in comedy. Initially, he was part of a local high school rap group, but was eventually kicked out due to his humorous rhymes not being taken seriously. A friend suggested he try stand-up comedy, and he found his calling after performing at a comedy club in Huntsville, Alabama.
Doug's unique style of comedy, which often focuses on relationships with women and his personal life, quickly gained him popularity. He became a favorite on BET's "Club Comic View" and "It's Showtime at the Apollo," and was featured on "Comedy Central Presents Doug Williams." His talents as a comedian and actor led him to be cast as a series regular in the HBO series "The Mind of the Married Man" and he has also guest-starred on "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Close to Home." He is set to star in the upcoming feature film "The Trace" alongside Billy Dee Williams and Lynn Whitfield.
Doug made history by becoming the first Black comedian to create, host, and produce his own stand-up comedy series, "Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand Up," which aired on the Starz Network. The show was a huge success, running for five seasons and featuring legendary and up-and-coming urban comedians. It also helped launch the careers of comedians like Ken Jeong and Sheryl Underwood. Doug went on to produce "Way Black When" for The TV One Network, a high-rated series that focused on the portrayal of African Americans in music, film, and television during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s.
Currently, Doug is the CEO of DNA Media Productions, a production company he founded with his wife Ada Luz Pla-Williams. They are currently working on several projects, including "Runnin the Streetz with Doug Williams," a fast-paced comedy show that combines outrageous sketches, celebrity guests, street pranks, and today's hottest music performers.
