Dougald H. Miller's life began in the quaint mill town of Toledo, Oregon, a community of approximately 2,800 residents. His educational journey started at a local community college, where he later transferred to the University of Oregon. However, he decided to forgo his studies and pursue a career in the performing arts by joining the Oregon Repertory Theatre, taking on an impressive 16 roles within a span of three years. This experience laid the foundation for his future success, as he was subsequently accepted into The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.
Following his training, Dougald went on to work with various regional theaters, including the Denver Center Theatre Co. and the Seattle Repertory Theatre, amassing an impressive tally of over 60 roles. His notable work included the production of The Ciderhouse Rules, directed by Jane Jones and Tom Hulce, which premiered at the Seattle Repertory Theatre before being transferred to the Mark Taper Forum in 1998. As a result, Dougald joined the production at its new venue.
After establishing himself on the stage, Dougald began to receive recognition for his work in television, taking on supporting roles in various shows. Today, he resides in Glassell Park, Los Angeles, and is a proud father to his daughter, Ruby.
