Biography

Dr. Procter's academic journey began in 1994 when he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University of Ohio. He then pursued higher education at the University of Georgia, where he successfully completed degrees in Microbiology and Cellular Biology.

Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Procter attended the Medical College of Georgia to earn his medical degree. After completing medical school, he underwent rigorous training in general surgery at the University of Kentucky and Greenville Health System in Greenville, South Carolina.

Dr. Procter's surgical career commenced in 2007, with a strong focus on minimally invasive bariatric and general surgery. He made significant strides in the field of robotic-assisted surgery, having performed the first robotic-assisted cholecystectomy in the state in 2008.

Building upon his experience, Dr. Procter became one of the first bariatric surgeons to adopt a fully robotic approach to sleeve gastrectomy, roux-en Y gastric bypass, and duodenal switch procedures. Since 2007, he has been performing bariatric surgery and has developed a special interest in robotic-assisted repair of complex hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction.

In 2016, Dr. Procter founded Beltline Bariatric and Surgical Group, further solidifying his reputation as a leading bariatric surgeon. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to staying at the forefront of surgical innovation and has been recognized for his contributions to the field.

Dr. Procter is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is also a member of the American Hernia Society and has authored book chapters on bariatric surgery and hernia repair.
