Drew's passion for acting was sparked at the tender age of five, when he would spend hours on his grandparents' living room floor, mesmerized by his grandfather's magic tricks. As he grew older, Drew began practicing magic tricks on his own and soon teamed up with his grandfather to put on shows for their family. The look of amazement on their faces was all the motivation he needed to continue honing his craft. At the age of 14, he joined an improv troupe, and in his senior year, he landed the leading role in the Spring Feature, a show that ran for four weeks.
