Dwayne Adway, affectionately known as DA, is a talented and well-versed actor who has garnered widespread recognition for captivating audiences in both film and television.
With a strong passion for honing his craft, he has maintained a consistent presence in the entertainment industry, earning credits in notable motion pictures such as "Into the Blue," "First Daughter," "Friendship," and "Soul Plane." His television appearances include recurring roles in the CBS series "Close to Home" as Keith Macklin, as well as guest appearances on various shows like "CSI," "NYPD Blue," "Girlfriends," "The Steve Harvey Show," "ER," "Arli$$," and others. Most recently, he wrapped up the Apple Television series "Vital Signs," starring and produced by Dr. Dre.
Adway's versatility as an actor is showcased through his diverse film roles, highlighting his charisma and charm. His critically acclaimed performance as Dennis Rodman in ABC's telepic "Bad As I Wanna Be; The Dennis Rodman Story" made a significant impact in Hollywood. He has also made a name for himself in the independent film world, starring in notable films like "Cloverbend" and "100 Kilos," which documents the rise and fall of the Freeway Boyz.
Despite his natural talent, Adway did not initially have a childhood dream of becoming an actor. Instead, he stumbled into the profession by accident. He attended Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University on a basketball scholarship, earning a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. After pursuing his MBA at Georgia State, he took an acting class for enjoyment, only to discover his passion for the craft. He eventually switched his focus to pursue a Master's Degree in Fine Arts, inspired by Denzel Washington's performance in "Mo Better Blues."
Adway has performed in several theatrical productions, including roles in "MacBeth," "Othello," and "Dutchman and The Slave" at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, GA. He has also appeared in the independent feature film "Midnight Edition" and the CBS movie of the week, "Complex of Fear." To further his creative endeavors, he founded Amethyst Films in 2020, a production company focused on developing films and TV projects he is passionate about. He will make his directorial debut with the script "A Summer Love" in Summer 2024.
In addition to his on-screen work, Adway has lent his voice to various campaigns, including CK 1, Chevy, Cingular Wireless, UPS, Domino's, and Match. He has also contributed to the scratch recordings on the Dreamworks feature "Shark's Tale" for Will Smith and voiced 50 Cent's nemesis in the 2005 release of the Interactive Game "50 Cent: Bulletproof."
Outside of acting, Adway enjoys golfing, fishing, cooking, writing poetry, and wine tasting. He is committed to giving back to the community, regularly participating in events and activities for the Elizabeth Glazer's Pediatric Aids Foundation and the Los Angeles Homeless Mission. A member of the Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masonry Society for 20 years, Adway has an extensive music collection spanning genres like Jazz, Classical, Country, and Hip Hop.
