Dwayne Hickman, born Dwayne Bernard Hickman on May 18, 1934, in Los Angeles, is the younger brother of Darryl Hickman. He began his acting career as a child, appearing in films such as Captain Eddie (1945),The Secret Heart (1946),and The Happy Years (1950),alongside his brother.
After graduating from Cathedral High School in 1952, Hickman attended Loyola Marymount University, then returned to Hollywood to focus on television work. He appeared in numerous TV shows, including Public Defender (1954),The Loretta Young Show (1953),and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (1952).
Hickman is best known for his role as Chuck, the girl-crazy nephew, in The Bob Cummings Show (1955),and as the titular lovesick title high school teen in The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1959),a role he played for which he is most famous.
In the 1960s, Hickman appeared in several films, including Cat Ballou (1965),Ski Party (1965),and Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine (1965). He also guest-starred on various TV shows, including Combat! (1962),Mod Squad (1968),and The Flying Nun (1967).
