In a bold and pioneering move, Dwijen decided to take the reins and establish his own theatre group in 1992, cleverly christening it Sanstab, a name that reflects his commitment to the art form and his vision for the future of Bengali theatre.
Dwijen Banerjee's venture into the captivating world of cinema commenced with the 2004 romantic endeavour, Sudhu Tumi, marking the inception of a prolific career that would soon unfold a plethora of successful films. His impressive repertoire includes the critically acclaimed Autograph, the poignant Ashchorjyo Prodeep, the endearing Phoring, the enchanting Shajarur Kanta, the riveting Jaatishwar, the captivating Badshahi Angti, and the melodious Benche Thakar Gaan.
Tragically, Dwijen Banerjee's life was cut short on 27th September 2017, when he succumbed to a cardiac arrest at the tender age of 68. His final cinematic endeavour, Bhalobashar Bari, was released posthumously in 2018, a poignant testament to his enduring legacy in the world of Bengali cinema.
