Native Hawaiian filmmaker Erin Lau has dedicated her life to crafting stories that delve into the complexities of empathy, redemption, and legacy, continually striving to push her creative boundaries. Since graduating from Chapman University's esteemed MFA program, Erin has pursued a path of growth and development through a multitude of opportunities with esteemed organizations such as the Sundance Institute, Tribeca Studios, MTV, Points North Institute, Powderkeg's Break The Room, Nia Tero, Film Independent's Project Involve program, and Episodic Directors Intensive.
Throughout her professional journey, Erin has also directed branded content for prominent companies like Google, Netflix, SK-II, and Always through her past work with Jubilee Media. Her impressive portfolio of short films has been showcased at over 50 film festivals worldwide, garnering widespread recognition and acclaim.
Notably, Erin's Chapman thesis film, 'The Moon and The Night', received crucial support from the 2017 Sundance Native Lab and was shortlisted for the Student BAFTA awards. The film's significance was further solidified when it was later licensed by the prestigious Criterion Channel.
With the support of Film Independent's Project Involve program, Erin had the opportunity to direct her next feature film, 'All I Ever Wanted', which went on to win the Best Comedy award at the 2022 Hollyshorts Film Festival. Her latest film, 'Inheritance', received backing from Tribeca Studios, Netflix, and Gold House through the Future Gold Film Fellowship, and recently premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. Additionally, 'Inheritance' took home the Oscar-Qualifying Hawaii Best Short Award at the 42nd Hawaii International Film Festival.
