Ernest L. Dancy was born in 1981 in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Ernest and Sheila Dancy. Growing up in the Redhook projects and Bedford-Stuyvesant sections of Brooklyn, Ernest's early life was marked by a passion for basketball, with aspirations to make it to the NBA. However, his path took an unexpected turn during his senior year at Long Island University in 2004, when he auditioned for and starred in his first feature film, Goodnite Charlie, released in 2005. This marked the beginning of a prolific career in the arts, as Ernest went on to write, direct, and produce his next feature film, Knuckle Game, in which he also starred, released in 2006.
After his college basketball career came to a close, Ernest found a new passion in acting, which led him to make the move to Los Angeles in September 2008. He quickly established himself as a talented and versatile actor, self-producing and starring in a web series, and landing lead roles in feature films such as Basketball Girlfriend in 2014. Ernest also booked a commercial for McDonald's, appeared on America's Most Wanted, and enjoyed co-starring roles in several television shows. In addition to his acting work, Ernest has been concentrating on writing and creating his own television show concepts.
Throughout his career, Ernest has lent his voice to popular video games, such as Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008, and has starred in commercials to help brands sell their products. With his continuous output of creative work, Ernest L. Dancy is undoubtedly an artist to keep an eye on.
