Estanislao Shilinsky Bachanska, a renowned Mexican comedian, was born on August 10, 1911, in Baisogala, Lithuania, and would later make a significant impact on the Mexican entertainment industry. For over four decades, he delighted audiences as half of the iconic comedy duo Manolín y Shilinsky, alongside his partner Manuel Palacios Sierra.
Shilinsky's career in the entertainment industry began in the vibrant carpa circuit, where he joined the prestigious Carpa Valentina. This marked the starting point of his remarkable journey, which would eventually lead him to coach the legendary Mario Moreno and play a crucial role in the development of his iconic Cantinflas character. Moreno, also known as Cantinflas, would go on to become a beloved figure in Mexican entertainment, and Shilinsky's guidance undoubtedly contributed to his success.
In a fascinating twist of fate, Shilinsky would later marry Olga Subarev, the daughter of the Russian family who owned the Carpa Valentina. Interestingly, Cantinflas, Moreno's alter ego, married Olga's sister, Valentina Ivanova, who was the namesake of the very carpa where Shilinsky and Moreno first met.
