Born on the picturesque Island of Mauritius, this talented actress was educated in the City of Light, Paris, and later in the British capital, London. Her impressive filmography began with the 1968 film "Loving Feeling," directed by Norman Warren and produced by Bashoo Sen.
Her subsequent roles included "There's a Girl in My Soup" (1970) alongside the renowned Peter Sellers, playing Paola. During a lunch meeting with her then-partner, Richard Johnson, at the White Elephant in Mayfair, Kirk Douglas spotted her and offered her the lead in "Skallawag," but she declined to star in a Jean Rollin film instead, "The Iron Rose" (1973).
Tragedy struck in 1971 when a fire broke out at her friend Vivianne Ventura's house, causing her to fall from the third floor and suffer a broken arm and dislocated shoulder while landing on the railings.
Her 11-year tumultuous relationship with the legendary film actor Richard Johnson ended in 1980, during which she gave birth to their son, Nicholas, in 1976. This led her to break into television in October 1971, playing Ray Langton's friend in the popular soap opera "Coronation Street." Her numerous guest star roles followed, including appearances alongside Rex Harrison in "Don Quixote" and Lee Remick in "Tennessee Williams' Summer & Smoke."
She also appeared in the sitcom "Terry & June," "Giants & Ogres" for Granada, and "Rule Brittania" at Thames TV, where she met Vince Powell, who would later write the part of Danielle Favre for her in the popular sitcom "Mind Your Language" (1977). She starred in "Mind Your Language" for three years before taking to the stage in "Happy Birthday," reuniting with Fraser Hines, and later in the pantomime "Aladdin."
In 1982, she left for the United States, where she signed a two-year contract with a Hollywood production company and appeared in various TV shows, including "The Young & The Restless," "Gavillan," "My Man Adam," and "Lightning." She received rave reviews for her performances in "Twelfth Night," playing Olivia, and "As You Like It," playing Rosalind.
After a 20-year hiatus from film, she returned to the big screen in 2011, co-starring in a film. Her charity work has been an integral part of her career, and she continues to be an active figure in the entertainment industry.
