Frank Jakeman's childhood dream was to reside at London Zoo and care for its animals, which he fulfilled at the age of seventeen in 1974.
As the decade progressed, his passion for cinema emerged, and he became inspired by the great 1970s classics, leading him to pursue a career as an actor.
Leaving behind his comfortable life at the zoo, Frank took a bold step into the unknown world of acting, risking the possibility of losing both his dream job and his sense of security.
He then enrolled at East 15, one of England's most prestigious drama schools, and since 1983, he has appeared in numerous television dramas and feature films.
Frank's impressive resume includes iconic British TV shows such as Dempsey & Makepeace, Minder, Blott on the Landscape, and Bergerac, as well as more recent appearances on The Bill, EastEnders, and A Game of Thrones.
He has also worked on big-budget movies like Deathwish 3 and Brazil, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with two directors with vastly different approaches to their craft.
However, Frank soon realized that major lead roles or substantial supporting roles in mainstream films were typically reserved for established actors, leading him to focus on low-budget independent films.
Throughout his career, Frank has played lead roles in numerous indie films, including To Dream, Nest of Vampires, Quality Indigo, Christmas Slay, Invasion of the Not Quite Dead, Breathe, Faith, Hosts, and many more.
Frank has expressed his admiration for working with young, up-and-coming directors, citing their enthusiasm and excitement as contagious. He believes that every film creates a unique, close-knit family, and that the true motivation for working on these projects is the pursuit of art.
In addition to his appearance in Game of Thrones, Frank wrapped production on the feature film "Hosts" in 2019 and had it theatrically released in 2020. He also completed the feature film "Blood Highway," originally titled "Faith," where he played the lead role of Martin. Frank's most recent credits include "Grace, Dead Man's Grip" in 2023.
